Xiaomi Mi Mix successor will be designed by Phillipe Starck, confirms CEO

Xiaomi's CEO Lei Jun has confirmed that the company is working on the successor of its Mi Mix smartphone. The highlight of Mi Mix is its bezel-less display. Jun confirmed the same in a post on Chinese microblogging website Weibo.

According to the post, the company has again collaborated with French designer Phillipe Starck, who designed the Mi Mix smartphone, for its 'millet MIX next generation' smartphone.

Though the CEO didn't reveal anything else about the upcoming smartphone, it is likely that the Mi Mix next-generation or the Mi Mix II will feature thinner display bezels with better specifications and enhanced features.



Rumours indicate that Xiaomi aims to achieve 93% screen-to-body ratio, which is a slight increase over the current Mi Mix smartphone's 91.3% screen-to-body ratio. The device is said to have a Ceramic build and have its entire front panel covered as display.

Xiaomi launched Mi Mix in October last year. The dual-SIM supporting Xiaomi Mi Mix sports a 6.4-inch 2040x1080 display and runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor. It is backed by a 4400mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 3.0. The optics front is taken care by 16MP rear camera with PDAF, f/2.0 aperture and a 5MP front-facing camera. The camera can record videos in 4K resolution as well. The front-facing camera is placed at the lower corner on the front panel.


The fingerprint sensor is placed at the back panel below the camera and LED flash setup. The concept smartphone features piezoelectric ceramic earpiece speaker and behind-display ultrasonic sensor.
